Main duties:Control of syrup productionCalibration of lab test equipmentUse of Hydrochloric and Sulphuric acidUse of Sodium Carbonate and Sodium HydroxideControlling the inversion and neutralisation of syrupsin vat production.Carry out production related testing – Brix, pH, colourand polarisation.Implementation of a positive release production systemfor all products including blended and sieved sugarsCompletion of production related documentation.
Health and Safety:Contribute to safety objectives relating to the laboratoryand production areas.Follow good H&S practice in your area of work.
Training: Undertake training related to your area of work.All training is to be fully documented.
Customer Service: Contribute to team objectives in order to achieve ourproduction and logistics plan on schedule and in timefor despatchPrepare customer or development samples for new orexisting products.Ensure that all certificates of analysis or conformanceare prepared and forwarded to customers as andwhen required.
Quality/Waste/: Ensure all HACCP procedures are adhered to anddocumentation is filled in correctly.Ensure that all production documentation is correctfor use before any filling of product takes place.Control of syrup production.Carry out product testing for all areas of productionand work to a method of positive release.Implement bulk tanker checks for incoming / outgoingproducts.Implement daily checks on stored products in tanks.Routine calibration of lab test equipmentMaintain usage logs for Fairtrade and Organic productsAdopt a company wide clean as you go policyBe tidy and be an example to others.Keep the lab and stores areas tidy and clean. Review the production schedule daily and ensure thatwhere possible; sugar or syrup is reclaimed andidentified to the vat room for re-work into syrups.Help to minimise wastage of water and electricity bypromoting good working practices. i.e ensure thatwater is not wasted in production and that equipmentis not left running needlessly.Continuously review production and ensure thatprocesses are utilised to achieve desired output andminimise overtime.Attend any meetings relevant to your position and / orrelevant to your area of expertise.Remain flexible and adopt skills to work in other areasof the business if required.Prepare for next days production based on theproduction schedule.Carry out tests on water used in steam boilers as perthe frequency and type required.

Contract Type :Permanent role.
Working day: Monday to Friday (Occasional Overtime)
Shift pattern: 06:00 – 14:30
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
Experience: Proven track record of work withina QC environment.Minimum of 3 years experiencein a similar post.Food production background
Skill and Abilities: Ability to work as part of a teamTo work flexibly, act on own initiativewhere appropriate and acceptdelegated responsibility.Good literacy / numeracy skillsGood communication skillsOrganised with a commitment toqualityAbility to cope with pressureCustomer service focusedMust be physically fitAbility to work within a productionrelated quality management systemMust be computer literate withworking knowledge of Microsoft-applications
Qualification and Training: Good level of secondary educationto include maths and englishKnowledge of COSHH
