The Managing Director will be accountable for all aspects of the business and lead major development and expansion programmes to deliver budgeted growth in revenue and profitability. This will be done through the development of manufacturing techniques and deployment of manufacturing excellence through training and development of the committed workforce. Specific Responsibilities will include: Further development & execution of an established profitable growth strategy Control of all operational aspects including; revenue growth, profit, operations & production, quality, product development, health & safety, financial reporting and compliance across all environmental & legal requirements Leadership of the senior management team and a local staff base of approximately 120 people, actively supporting professional and personal development Lead the continued development and implementation of Lean manufacturing tools and techniques Maintaining a thorough understanding of the market, trends and commercial opportunities that the business could exploit Driving operational performance, ensuring the assets are utilised in a cost efficient manner Maintain and develop a consistent product development pipeline with automotive OEM’s supported by quality and efficiency throughout the operations The Successful Applicant This is a key appointment for the business as a successful Managing Director will deliver the pipeline projects profitably while winning additional programmes of work. The ideal candidate will be highly commercial with a core skill set in operational excellence. They will be well versed in automotive manufacturing techniques and have led major development and expansion programmes in both continuous and batch production environments within tier 1 or 2 suppliers. Further to this they will need to have the gravitas and leadership qualities that enable them to build relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally. Broadly candidates should have: Recent relevant experience of working for an automotive or similar lean manufacturing organisation. Evidence of working for a PE / VC backed manufacturing business would be of significant advantage Experience in managing a full P&L Trained in Lean and Continuous Improvement techniques with a track record of delivering a lean manufacturing culture into continuous and batch production environments The ability to lead and inspire their leadership team to galvanise a strong culture quality, delivery and continuous improvement across the business The ability to operate autonomously while communicating effectively with the shareholders at board meetings
